As Reform Jews…

we believe all human beings are created in the image of God, and are God’s partners in improving the world. Tikkun olam, repairing the world, is a hallmark of Reform Judaism and we strive to bring peace, freedom, and justice to all people.

We are committed to the principle of inclusion, not exclusion. Since 1978, the Reform Movement has been reaching out to Jews-by-choice and interfaith families, encouraging them to embrace Judaism. Reform Jews consider children to be Jewish if they are the child of a Jewish mother or father, as long as the child is raised as a Jew.

We are committed to the absolute equality of women in all areas of Jewish life. We ordain women rabbis, invest women cantors, and elect women presidents of our synagogues. We are also committed to the full participation of gays and lesbians in synagogue life, as well as society at large.

Beth Shalom is…

the only Reform Congregation in Southern Wake County. We started as a synagogue of a few families meeting in homes and now we are a large family in our own “home”. Our motto is A Synagogue Where You’re Not A Stranger For Very Long. We pride ourselves as open and welcoming.

Beth Shalom is a congregation big enough to provide the traditional things you would expect from a synagogue--religious, social, and educational opportunities—but small enough that your voice is heard and you can have a direct and immediate impact through individual participation.

We are more than a building; and our membership is more than just a source of income. Beth Shalom is a community and like all communities Beth Shalom relies on the time and talent of its membership.
